Hit-and-run driver charged after injuring pedestrian in Brookhaven, cops say

Brookhaven police said officers charged a driver who hit a pedestrian and drove away Thursday.

About 6 p.m., police said that the northbound lanes of Peachtree Road were shut down between Club and Colonial drives for investigators. Police Sgt. David Snively told AJC.com the incident has been ruled a hit-and-run.

He added that the victim was walking across the driveway of an apartment complex when a driver hit her while pulling out of the complex. Snively said the driver failed to properly yield.

The victim’s injuries are serious but non-life-threatening.

The driver fled the scene but was later found by officers and charged, Snively said. The driver’s name and charges have not been released. More information will be released Friday, Snively said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 404-637-0600.
